Title: Boom!
Boom! I sat bolt upright. Cold sweat dripped down my forehead. Then I heard it again and tried to convince myself that it was lightning hitting something nearby, very nearby. I tossed and turned and tried to get back to sleep. My stomach rumbled. My dry throat felt sore. I was feeling dehydrated so I got up to get a drink. Walking down the dark hallway of my new home gave me goosebumps. I though about the diet my Mother had forced me to go on just because I was a little bit over weight. OK “ten” kilos over weight. Just then I got to an oddly placed door and opened it without thinking. It was the fridge. Cold and terrified I looked in the brightened compartment. It was so bright I couldn’t see through the glare. I reached in and felt around. The fridge appeared to be empty. Then I felt something. I pulled it toward me and squinted to make out its shape. It was gold and shiny and then I realised it was a block of chocolate. I took it to my room.
Quietly I shut my door, and ate the chocolate. It was delicious. I ate the whole lot. Then I realised that I didn’t get the chocolate out of my fridge. There was a strange, tickling sensation growing in my stomach. A thousand butterflies seemed to be trying to find a way out. I started to shrink. First my hands shrunk. Then I just grew smaller and smaller. It was like going down a very long elevator. I was terrified. Soon I was only 10cm tall. The folds of my bed seemed huge as I climbed over them. They were like sand dunes. I reached the end of my bed. It was so high up it seemed like a cliff. Taking care not to fall off the bed I went to the bedpost. I scrambled down the bed. Picking up a piece of wool I headed to the bathroom. I made a loop in the wool and threw it up to the sink. On the 3rd attempt I caught the tap. I climbed up to the mirror and saw myself. My reflection was tiny. I looked down at myself. I was tiny. Then it finally occurred to me. I WAS TINY! I could eat as much as I want!
