Title: Blood and Bone chapter 2 continued
'Well?' Claw repeated again when we didn't answer.
'It is about the forest cats,' Storm replied.
'Forest cats,' Winter thoughtfully echoed.
'After Winter and Wood left, I was attacked by a massive, brown tabby tom. He smelled different, so I assumed he was a forest cat. He would have killed me if Storm didn't come,' I mewed meeting my friend's brown eyes.
Claw paused, then spoke,'Well, if the forest cats DO want our territory, they are NOT getting it with out a fight!' My stomache lurched. I didn't like the idea of battling a forest cat again, but I also didn't like the thought of them taking over our territory.
'We will fight to death!' Wood bravely exclaimed.
'I will, too,' Storm mewed.
'We all will,' I said. Claw nodded with his head and signaled with his tail to follow him.
We all circled around a big rock in the center of our territory. Trees surrounded me, and a small drizzle was lightly falling. The wind was blowing, but it said nothing as if it too was listening to Claw.
'Cats of my Group, listen closely!' Claw bellowed. 'Some of our patrolls have been smelling forest cats.'
'On our territory?' Night, a black and white Student, hissed.
'Yes. And one of these forest cats have attacked two of our Students!' Claw flicked his tail at me and Storm. A murmer rose through the crowd. Storm's mentor, Crow, spoke out.
'So what do you want us to do?'
'Double the patrols, Fighters. Trainers and Students, train hard on your fighting moves. We will fight these forest cats and leave them scars to remember us by!' A yowl of agreement rose among the gathered cats.
'Get a good nights sleep tonight, and we will start tommarrow,' Claw added. The Group nodded and followed Claw back to camp.
I awoke with a start the next morning. Light was seeping through a hole in the Student den roof. I got up and stretched my legs. I felt some what drowsy, yet ready to spring into battle at any moment. I felt like I was being watched every second.
'Swift?' I swung around to see my mother's claico head poking through the enterence to my den. 'We are going out to train.'
'Ok,' I mewed and followed her out of the Barn. The morning smelled fresh, and a thick fog covered the forest floor. We soon came to a part in the wood.
'Now, let's see what you know,' Winter said. With out warning, she bowled into me. I quickly put a paw up and scratched my Trainer's leg.
'Come on Swift, you can never win a fight like THAT! This is what you do...'
