Title: Blood and Bone chapter 3

My limbs werre aching by the end of the day.
'I'm tired, Winter!' I complained flopping down on my belly. Winter looked at me for a moment before speaking.
'I'll go hunt. I want you to go check out the area where we smelled the forest cats,' she said slicking her tail in dismissal. I nodded and ran off toward the area Winter told me to go. The air smelled new and fresh after the recent storm. If I did scent any forest cats, it would mean that they were in our territory AFTER the storm. There was a rustle in the bushes, and it took all my strength to not go after the mouse that appeard.
I arrived at the place and sniffed the air. There was a deffinant scent of forest cat, only it smelled odly freach and strong...
A loud yowl broke my thoughts. I looked around and saw dark pelts racing through the trees. I jumped to my paws and ran back toward the BArn with one word in my mind: attack!

I ran as fast as I could, the trees flying behind me. My mother always told me I was the first out of my littermates to do everything. I was the first one to open my eyes, the first one to talk and the first to walk. She also claimed I was the fastest cat in the forest, and that is how I earned my name Swift. I spotted the old, worn out shape of the abandoned twoleg house a few fox-tails away. I ran faster and right into Dew and Frost who were just leaving for a patrol.
'Swift! You look like you've just seen StarClan themselves!' Dew exclaimed.
'Stay here. I'll get Claw,' I panted. I saw Dew and Frost give eachother a questioning glance as I sped away.
I ducked my head as I ran through the opening that led into Claw's den. The tabby cat jumped up in surprise.
'Claw, the forest cats are attacking us!' I yelped.
'Where?' Claw asked.
'By those rocks on the far side of our territory!' I answered. Claw darted out of the den, and I followed close behind.
'Claw? Swift?' Frost mewed as we appeard in the clearing. I looked up to the sky and saw rain clouds starting to form. StarClan, be with us, I pleaded.
'Frost, all the Trainers and Students are out hunting,' I said half looking at Claw.
'Right. Frost, go collect them and meet me and Dew at those rocks. We are being attacked!' Claw's words were fast and slurred, but the two Fighters seemed to understand because the sped off into the forest.
'I'll come, too!' I offered.
'No. I need a cat to stay here and protect Shine and Marigold.' Claw snarled, and I knew it was an order. I watched my leader disappear into the trees. I felt a pang of loneliness. Why did Claw want to leave ME behind? I wasn't THAT bad of a Student, or atleast, I didn't think I was. Marigold appeard next to me.
'I know what you are thinking. Claw is being mouse-brained. I can take care of myself!' I turned my head away. Maybe I wasn't cut out to be a Fighter after all.
