Jellybeans and Acorns
I want to tell you funny stories about
Grandpa because this is a happy occasion since we know he’s in heaven.
It was on my cousin Andrew’s birthday party. This party was out by Butterfield Park. The kids were getting restless and bored. When suddenly we felt little plinks and pricks on our backs. We turned around and saw Grandpa in a lawn chair, his hands filled with acorns. He smiled and aimed.
We ran for cover, finding our own supply of acorns. We retaliated with our acorns. They fell into the back of his lawn chair. He grabbed them and shot them back. An acorn war had begun. I’m sorry to say that the squirrels had a horrible winter.
Whenever the grandchildren used to come to the house he would always offer us jellybeans and we would always accept.
You always knew he was ready to leave when he put on his hat and coat and stood near the door.
I loved Grandpa because he was quiet, but still was able to make everyone laugh.
For example, when Grandpa got a brand new flashlight last Christmas he shone it in everyone’s eyes.
Grandpa always enjoyed watching us play. He especially loved watching Uncle Terry play Polly Pockets with me last Christmas! :)
I know he’s up in heaven throwing acorns at the angels.
Goodbye Grandpa, I’ll miss you.
