Title: Chapter one: The House of Nowhere

A raven flew down and landed on a street lamp. The moonlight shone on the raven, making it's black feathers light up. It stood completely silent, watching the house on the top of the hill. The raven stared and stared, and waited and watched, for what seemed like hours. The night sky was pure black, not a star shone. Clouds passed the moon drearily, making it seem darker than it already was. Just then, the house's windows lit up, making the whole yard infront of it clear. Dark, brown weeds covered the fence and vines twined around the dead, leafless trees. The raven finally moved, flying closer to the window to get a better look. A small boy stood in the middle of the room, his wand in his hand. The boy's father nodded approvingly as the boy cast the spell again.
'Teremune,' the father said in a dark, stern voice. 'You can't expect ANY progress like that!' Teremune didn't dare to flinch, but cast the spell one more time at a rat, nibbling at a crumb off the floor.
'Avada Kadavra!' Teremune called once more. A flash of light hit the rat, making it fall to the ground: dead. A shriek of terror sounded from the corner. A girl, about ten years old with long, wiry black hair and ragged clothes, huddled in the corner.
'Addaline, it's just a rat!' Teremune exclaimed. Addaline cluched her legs tight and shook her head, obviously too afraid to speak.
'Foolish girl,' the father said pointing his wand at her. Addaline stared at the wand, her eyes wide with terror.
'A wonder Father hasn't killed you yet, you've been huddling there all week, not doing a thing!' Teremune snapped. Addaline, who was still staring at the wand, made a groaning noise.
'A wonder, isn't it?' the father said putting his wand back in his pocket. 'But she isn't a threat to us, she wouldn't dare pipe up the courage to stand up against us, would you now?' Addaline shook her head.
'I... I'd n...n...never...dare t...to...even th...th...think about it!' Addaline stammered.
'That's my girl,' the father said turning to face Teremune.
'Again!' he said flicking his wand. Another rat, this time, a bigger one appeared on the ground. Teremune called the spell over and over again, killing rat after rat. Addaline watched with terror. Finally, she managed to speak.
'Wh...wh...why?' she shrieked? The father whipped around and stared at her through blank eyes. He pointed his wand at her.
'Don't speak!' he hissed. Tears filled Addaline's eyes as she stared at the wand for the second time.
'I'm s...s...so...sorry!' Adaline cried. Tears streamed down her face. Teremune watched with wide eyes as his father whispered two words, the words Teremune was saying all day, and the tears stopped streaming down Addaline's face, her eyes went dull and she fell to her side. The father whipped around.
'See what happens around here when people oppose me?' he asked. Teremune, still shaking violently, nodded as he looked as his sister's dead body. Teremune longed to run to her and hug her, but he didn't dare move, not now, atleast.
The raven looked away from the dissasterous seen and looked at the sky. The sun was starting to come up, and the sky was growing lighter and lighter. The raven turned back to the window. The father had dissappeared in a flash of light, leaving Teremune alone with Addaline. He gently wiped the tears left on her face.
'I told you it was going to happen,' he whispered and cluched her tighter, and cried.
