Title: My Wish
I held the bottle in my hands, so excited my hands shook.
“Wow” I breathed. I thought about it for a few minutes, and then I turned the bottle round anticlockwise and wished.
“I wish for... More pudding!”
Nothing happened. I sighed.
Then suddenly... The bottle began to glow like a Chinese lantern. My heart skipped a beat as the ugliest genie you ever saw came out of the small, glass bottle I held in my hand.
“What?” snorted the monster-like genie. “More pudding? That’s the most ridiculous wish I’ve ever heard.
“But I’m hungry!” I wailed.
“Fine, I’ll give you pudding” he grumbled, then added, “And rotten teeth!” under his breath. The genie muttered some words under his breath. Then in a puff of smoke, he vanished.
So I went home to try out my new power. I grabbed the nearest bowl and shouted:
“STRAWBERRY JELLY AND ICE CREAM!”
In a flash of lightning I had a huge bowl of jelly and ice cream in front of me. I gobbled it up, then went to bed.
In the morning I was feeling a little peckish, so I got out a clean bowl and shouted:
“RICE PUDDING WITH CUSTARD!!!!!”
My voice echoed round the room. It was quite spooky. But the old magic weaved its way into my plastic bowl, and soon my bowl was overflowing with gloopy rice pudding and yellow custard.
This went on for several days, and I enjoyed the pleasure of eating every single pudding you could possibly think of, apple pie as crisp as snow, trifles as tall as towers, meringues as fluffy as the clouds, treacle pudding as sticky as tar, a sponge-cake as light as a feather, knickerbockerglories layered like traffic lights, cheesecakes, gateau, raspberry tarts, rhubarb crumble, profiteroles, cherry pie, banana splits, muffins... There were so many!
And as I ate, I became bigger and bigger, and fatter and fatter. My teeth became black and rotten, and I had terrible toothache. I didn’t fit into my clothes any more, all the buttons had popped and the seams had ripped.
I was ill in bed for the next fortnight. I was miserable and it was all because of that stupid wish. If I hadn’t been so greedy, maybe none of this would have happened.
Suddenly the ugly genie appeared.
“Ha ha!” chuckled the genie in his low voice. “Serves you right. You were greedy and selfish. But...”
He disappeared in a puff of smoke. I felt myself. I was back to my normal size!
And the moral of this story is-:
DON’T BE GREEDY!!!
