Title: Deepavali
Deepavali is a festival celebrated by Indians. Indians in India celebrate in more grandly than those over here in Singapore. They celebrate it more traditionally. Here we just wake up, go to the prayer room and pray, visit our relatives and play but there they bathe in oil and get blessings from their parents and go to the temple before visiting their relatibves. Deepavali usually falls on October of November. It depends on the Indian calender.
There are different stories on why Deepavalie is being celebrated. One is about a god being tricked into giving light forever to a persons house. I'm not sure about that one. Another one is about Ramayana(another God) defeating an evil monster and bringing peace to India. There are a few more stories about how Deepavali came about.
Deepavali means light way ( or that's how it would be if it's translated into English )Deepa means Deepam which means lamp. Vali means way or path.
There are more festivals celebrated by Indians. I'll come back and tell more about it another day. By the way, you guys wanna check out my story on the other page. Hope 'ya like it!
